WhatsApp Business API is the foundation of WhatsApp-first training, customer support, and notifications. It is delivered via Meta-approved Business Solution Providers (BSPs) and requires:
- A verified business account on Meta Business Manager
- A dedicated phone number that is not actively used in the consumer WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app
- Pre-approved message templates for any business-initiated message outside the 24-hour customer service window
- A BSP relationship for sending and receiving messages programmatically
For learning use cases, the Business API allows a training platform to push interactive lessons, quizzes, and reminders directly to a worker's WhatsApp chat, capture their responses, and update the worker's progress record — all without requiring the worker to install anything new.
